Special Events & Contests
Special contests at the Illinois State Fair provide an opportunity for fairgoers and groups to participate and win prizes. Marching bands, float builders, baton twirlers, runners, fiddle & banjo players as well as diaper decorations and derbies all have the opportunity to show off their talents.
Contest information can be found in the Premium Book! With the exception of the Twilight Parade, Lego and Sangamon County Cheer & Dance, all contests will utilize the Specia Events Entry Form below.
There is something for both young and old in the parade – from marchers to riders on horseback and you too can be a part of the fun. The Illinois State Fair is looking for groups who are interested in participating in the parade.
2025 Twilight Parade information and entry form will be available starting Tuesday, April 29!

Annual Lego Contest takes place in the Expo Building on Sunday, August 17th. Ages are divided into three groups - age 5-8, age 9-12 and age 13-17.

Open to all High School Cheer or Dance teams from Sangamon County School Districts. Sunday, August 17th at 2:00pm in the Illinois Building.
Best in Show will be awarded in each Division based on audience participation, so make sure to bring your friends and families to cheer you on!
