Illinois State Fair - Competitive Events

The Illinois State Fair showcases the best of Illinois agriculture and homemade goods & products. The links below provide the rules and information regarding how to enter exhibits, equine events, and livestock during the Fair. 

General Exhibits give you the chance to show off the best of your fruits and vegetables, flowers and honey, textiles and artwork, as well as culinary skills and dairy products. A first-place ribbon is just a click away.

Equine Events include Western Horse events, Junior Horse classes, the Draft Horse Show and Pulls, the Miniature Horse Show, as well as all Society Horse Shows. The exhibition of many different horse breeds and equestrian disciplines are a staple of the Illinois State Fair. 

 

The Junior and Open Livestock Shows are a highlight of the Illinois State Fair and provide a showcase for some of the best livestock in the country. Livestock competitions include:  beef cattle, dairy cattle, goats, dairy goats, pygmy goats, sheep, swine, poultry and rabbits. Illinois 4-H members who demonstrated excellence in 4-H project work at their local county exhibition display exhibits during the annual Fair. The link provides information about the   4-H General display process. 

Special contests at the Illinois State Fair provide an opportunity for fairgoers and groups to participate and win prizes. Marching bands, float builders, baton twirlers, runners, fiddle & banjo players as well as diaper decorations and derbies all have the opportunity to show off their talents.
